Glad you liked the tips. I appreciate your perspective and am equally concerned about bad drivers, but I can't believe that many people today are concentrating fully on the road as it is. Most drivers are already talking on cell phones, listening to the radio, thinking about that last conversation they had with their boss on the way out the door, talking to their passengers looking at billboards, scenery, or slowing down to 5mph to look at any remotely interesting traffic incident on the other side of the highway. You are probably one of the only people on the road fully concentrating on the road. I applaud you for it.

Many of the tips above will cause people to be more alert and engaged and able to respond to a traffic situation than what they are doing today during their commute.

These are great tips for a passive commute (time on a train, for example) or for a decompress routine when you get home.

When I'm driving, though, I need to concentrate fully on the road. Especially when it's inhabited by tired commuters making last minute phone calls.

Advising drivers to think about something else makes the world a more dangerous place: please reconsider.
